Hey there! A few days ago I realized it’s possible to import Hetzner boot images into Docker (or another compatible container engine), build custom images using the imported ones as a base, then export them as .tar.gz files with docker export. You can upload these to your Hetzner root server while in rescue mode and use them with the installimage script.

I’m sharing the repo here with all currently available Hetzner boot images (from the Hetzner mirror) uploaded to GitHub Container Registry for easier reuse. The goal is to enable folks to produce their own boot images based on these using Docker.
