iOS 4.0 now supports in-app text messaging. I will look into adding this as a service and contributing it back to the repository.

Need to make it graceful enough to handle iOS 3.x (which can't use this service) as well as iOS 4.x devices that don't allow text messaging (such as the iPod touch).

Try this code, I use it in one of my own apps, and it includes CanSendText to give a popup if texting is not available:

SHKTextMessage works nicely - it would be good if it incorporated the item title in the message though. something like this:

Thanks for coding this SMS implementation, this is exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately I think I've found a bug. If you share something via SMS you are subsequently unable to share again, the ShareKit pop-up menu will appear but selecting anything from it does nothing.

Hopefully this makes sense (I've only been deveoping iPhone apps for about 2 weeks) but having done some debugging I think I have worked out the reason for this is because the "- (void)SHKviewDidDisappear:(BOOL)animated" method on the SHKSMS class is not firing.

If I modify the SHK.m class as below (hence wiring up the SHKviewDidDisappear method correctly) things seem to work as expected.

HaggleLad, thanks for discovering that bug and especially for proposing a solution for it! The change you made does seem to be the correct way to go about fixing it and I think should be patched into the source. I'll submit an update via pull request.

SHKTestMessage seems to work great first time round, the second time the 'Share' action sheet is displayed however the Text option disappears. For some reason it is getting removed from favouriteSharers, anyone know what that might be?

It happens if I click to share Facebook/Twitter/Email/Text, any of them, then click to share again and the text button is gone.

I can't seem to make the Text option appear on the actionsheet...

I added the contents of the "Text Message" folder to the Actions folder.
I changed the plist to include it
I changed SHK.m to include it as one of my favorites.

What's odd is that even if I delete all of my favorites except just SHKTextMessage all the old ones still show up... any ideas on what that can be?
