Re-organize crate

There's way the `request` and `event` modules tack-on higher-level APIs it a little messy.

Most or all clients should use those. Either the generated protocol bindings should be completely abstracted and not made public, or there should probably be in a `proto` module with more emphasis on the higher-level wrappers.
