cross compile to aarch64-musl from x64?

I have found examples to cross compile from x64 to either musl or arm64. Is it possible to cross compile a statically linked (musl) arm64 binary on an x64 system?

Should be. The problem might be C dependencies (as usual).

Yeah there's no theoretical reason why it shouldn't be possible. Have you tried combining the musl and the cross compiling examples?

yes i have tried to combine both examples, but unfortunately i have not been successful and have not had the time to try again.

Cross-compiling is generally a PITA for reasons unrelated to crane. I have a project wrapping crane that (as part of what it does) handles a lot of xcompiling: https://github.com/rustshop/flakebox

You might want to use it as a source of inspiration.

Also feel free to ping me here or on flakebo's Matrix channel and I can try to help (as time allows). I have a lot of experience getting stuff to cross-compile in Rust and Nix/crane.

hey @dpc, thanks for your reply. I got static crossp-compiling working with naersk by trial and error. flakebox seems like a great project, I will also take a look into it. And thanks for offering me your help :)
