httpbin.org is unstable and CI fails

Failing to run tests increases the burden on maintainers, so a compatible alternative must be provided.

The following Go language tools appear to be compatible with httpbin.org:

The following Rust language tools also appear to be compatible with httpbin.org, but they are not maintained and fail to build:

https://github.com/duskmoon314/httpbin-rs

There are several other similar tools, but go-httpbin only uses the standard library, and considering that it is likely to be easy to build in the future, it seems best to adopt go-httpbin.

The problem is that they don't provide static binaries to make testing easier, but I've started working on a static binary release in the following repository:

If it is merged, the binary from the origin repository will be used; if it is not merged, the binary from the fork repository will be used.

Update: upstream go-httpbin now provides everything needed to drop the httpbin.org dependency.

• Release binaries: since v2.22.0, every tagged release publishes signed binaries for Linux / macOS / Windows on amd64 and arm64, along with checksums, SBOMs, and build provenance attestations.

• Container image: published to GHCR for every tagged release.

My PR (mccutchen/go-httpbin#209) was not needed in the end — @mccutchen implemented a more complete release workflow in mccutchen/go-httpbin#244.

So CI can now either download the release tarball for the runner platform or pull the container image, start a local instance, and point the specs at it. No external service is involved, so the tests become deterministic.

Resolved by #155. The http_request specs now serve go-httpbin themselves instead of depending on httpbin.org.
