Full support widescreen

I found a video on YouTube of someone playing a fully patched widescreen version of the game. I tried to find out what it was, but I didn't get an answer. I'm looking for information on where I can get this. Even the radial construction menu has been fixed; it's not oval.

Hi @Unkn87, I assume you're using a 21:9 monitor, since it works in 4:3 and 16:9, and the video you linked is also 16:9.

I'm not aware of any version that preserves the original gameplay while also supporting a proper 21:9 HUD, which is why I'll probably remove the 21:9 options from my application entirely to avoid confusion. Adding proper 21:9 support would require far more work than is reasonable.

I recommend playing in 16:9 with black bars or looking for other mods. Kind greetings to you.

I guess I expressed myself incorrectly. What I meant was that in the video, all the interface elements are adjusted for 16x9 resolution. I've downloaded numerous global mods, but none of them fix all the elements, particularly the radial menu that appears in buildings or for recruiting heroes.

I haven't seen the radial menu fixed anywhere else. How is that possible?

With my tool, all radial menus in buildings and for recruiting units and heroes should be perfectly round on 16x9 with 16x9 HUD. I inject one file for each game, see https://github.com/jcoester/bfme-resfix#retaining-hud.

Ok, I understand. Only the Palantir and Spell Store (Special Skills) are part of the existing HUD mod. One would need to locate the original BIG files for each menu, possibly under the /apt folder, extract the source files using FinalBIG, then convert the corresponding APT file to XML, adjust the dimensions, convert back to APT, then add the new file to the HUD mod BIG file.

If you happen to achieve any progress there, let me know and I’ll package it in my application for everyone to access.

PS. You don’t seem to have the 16x9 Maps active, as the camera is too zoomed in compared to the original. The center Gondor tower should be uncropped from that angle.

I'm a programmer and reverse engineer. But even I can't fix this, unfortunately. The problem is that the Radial menu has a border texture. There are three texture variations for normal, mouse-over, and click. But that's trivial. The problem is deeper: it's in the texture itself, the image, and this button. This is the same texture used in many other places in the interface: the buttons in the palantir, the unit icons at the bottom, and elsewhere. While the border can be fixed with a texture map in handcreatedmappedimages.ini, the texture can't be fixed that way because it's scaled to the full size. If you edit this texture (make it wider), it will display incorrectly in other places. This seriously complicates the task.
If you look at the radial menu buttons themselves, these circles, they don't have any APT files that could change them. It's not that simple. Because the parameters and rendering of these buttons are hardcoded into game.dat. And the game.dat file itself can't be opened in IDA PRO because it's protected from tampering; it has self-defense, and it would take a very serious hacker to do it.
That's why I was very surprised when I saw in a youtube video that someone had managed to fix this, because it's very difficult to do.
