🐛 Found a bug?

Please report reproducible bugs in [GitHub Issues](https://github.com/jrs8205/Device-Watch/issues) instead of Discussions.

When reporting a bug, include:

• Your Device Watch version
• Your Android version
• Your device manufacturer and model
• A clear description of what happened
• Steps to reproduce the problem
• Whether the required permissions or special access settings were enabled
• Whether battery optimization was enabled for Device Watch
• Screenshots or logs when available

Please remove personal information from screenshots, notification logs, and diagnostic output before posting.

📊 Incorrect or missing information?

Android exposes different system information depending on the device manufacturer, Android version, hardware, mobile carrier, and granted permissions.

You can start a discussion when:

• A value appears incorrect or does not update
• A metric remains unavailable after the required access has been granted
• The widget displays different information from the main app
• Screen time, data usage, unlocks, charging sessions, restarts, or notification counts appear inaccurate
• The charging screensaver behaves unexpectedly
• A feature works differently on another Android device
• A manufacturer-specific battery restriction prevents background updates

Please include:

• The affected metric or feature
• Your device manufacturer and model
• Your Android version
• The Device Watch version
• The permissions and special access you have granted
• What value you expected
• What value Device Watch displayed

Device Watch may display a dash (—) when Android or the device does not provide a reliable value.

The app should not invent unavailable system information.

🔑 Permissions and special access

Some Device Watch features depend on Android permissions or special access, including:

• Usage access
• Notification access
• Phone or network-related permissions
• Background execution
• Battery optimization exclusions
• Exact or scheduled background updates where supported

A missing permission does not always affect every feature.

When asking for help, mention which permissions are granted and which are not.

🔐 Privacy

Device Watch works fully offline and does not request internet access.

System statistics, app usage information, notification history, and locally retained usage history remain on your device.

Android behavior can vary significantly between manufacturers, devices, Android versions, and power-management systems.

A feature working differently does not automatically mean that either Device Watch or the device is faulty.

Clearly distinguish between confirmed behavior, manufacturer-specific behavior, and assumptions.
