From 35cd83e9fed68225ddd0a5fee076e4a76e2de8ac Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Gaya KACI <163902005+kacigaya@users.noreply.github.com> Date: Tue, 3 Nov 2026 09:21:48 +0000 Subject: [PATCH] feat: add OpenGrep static analysis before review - Scan changed files with OpenGrep in an offline sandbox job with no credentials. Load only the rule dirs for the changed languages plus the generic rules. - Pass results on added lines to the agent as untrusted hints. The agent confirms real issues and drops false positives. - Ignore .semgrepignore files and nosemgrep comments, so a PR cannot hide code. Never store matched code. - Bundle OpenGrep 1.33.1 and opengrep-rules f1d2b56, pinned by SHA-256. Unpack the onefile binary at build time, so scans keep the read-only, noexec sandbox. - Store results and status per review, guarded by the worker lease. Show them in a Static analysis tab. - Add CROCODE_SAST, CROCODE_SAST_TIMEOUT_SECS, CROCODE_SAST_RULES, and the sast repo setting. --- .env.example | 3 + README.md | 10 +- crates/core/src/config.rs | 9 + crates/core/src/prompt.rs | 62 ++- crates/server/src/api.rs | 5 +- crates/server/src/db.rs | 91 +++- crates/server/src/main.rs | 1 + crates/server/src/models.rs | 1 + crates/server/src/review.rs | 36 ++ crates/server/src/sandbox.rs | 46 ++- crates/server/src/sast.rs | 478 ++++++++++++++++++++++ crates/server/src/settings.rs | 17 + crates/server/src/tests.rs | 82 +++- docker/README.md | 31 ++ docker/sandbox/Dockerfile | 39 ++ docs/api.md | 23 +- docs/configuration.md | 28 ++ docs/security.md | 12 + migrations/0005_sast.sql | 19 + web/app/(dashboard)/reviews/[id]/page.tsx | 58 +++ web/lib/docs-content.tsx | 7 +- web/lib/types.ts | 16 + web/scripts/smoke.ts | 19 +- 23 files changed, 1077 insertions(+), 16 deletions(-) create mode 100644 crates/server/src/sast.rs create mode 100644 migrations/0005_sast.sql diff --git a/.env.example b/.env.example index d0a0532..b7fda3b 100644 --- a/.env.example +++ b/.env.example @@ -43,6 +43,9 @@ DOCKER_GID=0 CROCODE_WORKER_CONCURRENCY=4 CROCODE_MAX_PER_INSTALLATION=2 CROCODE_AGENT_TIMEOUT_SECS=900 +# OpenGrep static analysis before each agent run: on or off. +CROCODE_SAST=on +CROCODE_SAST_TIMEOUT_SECS=300 CROCODE_MAX_REPO_SIZE_MB=1024 # Extra agent env NAMES only.     A new push cancels the previous review. CroCode does not queue the same repository, pull request, and head commit twice, including when the previous review was skipped.

    The bot posts a COMMENT review. It never approves a pull request or requests changes. A person must check each suggestion before applying it.

    Before the agent runs, OpenGrep scans the changed files in an offline sandbox. The agent receives the results on added lines as hints and reports only the ones it confirms. The review page lists them in the Static analysis tab. The bundled opengrep-rules use LGPL-2.1 with the Commons Clause, which does not grant the right to sell a service built mainly on them. See the image notes.

    A failed or cancelled review shows a plain reason and a next step. Open Error details to read the stored error.

    An admin can select Cancel review on a queued or running review. A running agent stops within about 20 seconds. An admin can select Retry review on a failed or cancelled review when it is the newest review of its pull request. A retry starts with fresh attempts and does not post a GitHub review twice.
