Installation doubts #167

Description

@AndreaColombo86

Hello,

I’m trying to use this mod in Borderlands 2 as shown in this video:

https://youtu.be/QRqihwgN3Tw?is=7lKXvp8WGyn3yovT

I think I got it working, but some doubts still plague me. Here’s what I did:

  1. Installed Creative’s OpenAL. This was easy, as it comes with its own handy executable.
  2. Installed OpenAL Soft. This is where my doubts start. If I interpreted the readme correctly, all I needed to do on my Win11 installation was copy one file to the System32 folder, which is what I did. Should I have done more? Did I fundamentally misinterpret the readme?
  3. Unzipped DSOAL in the game’s directory.
  4. Copied the alsoft.ini settings from the aforementioned video’s description to the file in the game’s directory.
  5. Registered dsound.dll as described on the IndirectSound website. There’s a file over there that you can use to automatically add all necessary registry strings, so I used that.
  6. Created an OpenAL/HRTF folder inside my AppData folder and placed the relevant HRTF file inside it. Doubt: my alsoft.ini is actually in AppData/Roaming. Should my OpenAL/HRTF folder also be in AppData/Roaming? Or is it fine in AppData?

Also, should there be more inside the OpenAL folder in AppData?

I hope someone can help me out :)

Thanks in advance!
Andrea
