Thanks for this helpful function. If you add a cleaning step using the R package CoordinateCleaner you could increase reliability of the coordinates data.

rOpenSci has even _two_packages for cleaning occurrence data, CoordinateCleaner mentioned above and https://docs.ropensci.org/scrubr/, whose functionalities are complementary. :-)
