Hi! First of all, thank you for developing Backtalk. I really like the app and I think the chat-based approach for note-taking is excellent.
However, I found a behavior that seems problematic.
Steps to reproduce
- Create a new message.
- Immediately after sending it, the message can be edited and deleted.
- Wait until the message enters the "Edit locked" state.
- Long-press the message again.
Current behavior
Once the message is edit-locked, it can no longer be deleted.
Expected behavior
Editing and deleting should be independent actions. Even if editing is intentionally disabled after some time, users should always be able to permanently delete their own notes.
For a personal note-taking application, preventing users from deleting old notes is very restrictive. It makes it impossible to clean up outdated information, remove mistakes, or reorganize conversations over time.
If this behavior is intentional, I would suggest allowing message deletion even after the edit lock has expired, or providing a setting so users can choose whether deletion remains available.
Environment
Device: Motorola Moto G86 5G
Android: Android 16
The issue is reproducible every time. As soon as a message displays "Edit locked", it can no longer be deleted.
Thank you for your work on this project!
