No BG Music on dArkOS4Clone

After switching from ArkOS4Clone to dArkOS4Clone 03132026 on a R36S Ultra V2
I found no way to activate the overall BG music.

I tried to rename the bgmusic folder to music in the EASYROMS partition. No luck.
The .ogg files are working with Background_Music_Player.sh on the system so the files are ok.
When I acvtivate Frontendmusic in Audio Options and edit my theme.xml in my theme

./_art/assets/sounds/${system.theme}.ogg ./_art/assets/sounds/${system.theme}.mp3

to

roms/bgmusic/test.ogg roms/bgmusic/test.mp3

it works but only with the test.ogg file. ther is no way for a random playback on some other files.

Any suggestions?

I had the same issue. I just posted a fix on reddit. Here's what I wrote:

I just received a R36S-V20 2025-05-18 clone that is not yet supported by DarkOS-RE (it's on the list of upcoming compatibility), so I figured I'd install ArkOS4Clone - I noticed on the ArkOS4Clone GitHub last night that he has a dArkOS4Clone version - so I grabbed it.

I was able to get it running (used Kinhank panel option), but the menu music player was not working - same issue as on the first few versions of DarkOS-RE until u/southozfps fixed it.

Turns out the issue is a missing symlink in /home/ark/.emulationstation

loaded up the ROOTFS partition on a linux server, navigated to /home/ark/.emulationstation and created the symlink:

ln -s /roms/bgmusic music

I also edited /home/ark/.emulationstation/es_settings.cfg (you can probably just change this setting from the ES menu, but I was already there...)

changed this line:

<bool name="audio.bgmusic" value="false" />

to

<bool name="audio.bgmusic" value="true" />

saved my changes, ejected the SD, and fired it up in my device - menu music now works.

Now I just need to get network working on this clone so I can do this sort of thing through SSH instead of mounting the SD on a Linux computer...

ln -s /roms/bgmusic music did the trick. Thank you very much.

In dArkOS4Clone it is the option Main-Menu / Frontendmusic instead of Backgroundmusic

Hopefully lcdyk0517 can implement this in the next update.
