Falla el enviar email

Hola Nico!

Estoy intentando cocinar un firmware para documentar el proceso (para el
taller en mexico)
no anda y me dijo gui que estas en cargo

error:
falla enviar el mail
y hace falta resolver que lo encore localmente

espero que se entiende :-)

its definitely due to the mail server being down since friday. this chef(django) instance is configured to deliver the mail directly to a remote mailserver, and when that fails, registration is impossible. but error is misleading. 1) point the mailserver to the new instance (nicoE set it up) 2) ideally make the error better to the user. instead of the misleading "host not found" or whatever, show a stylized error page saying "chef registration is currently impossible. please try later" Am 28. The thing is that without the SMTP server there is no way that people can create new accounts!

Can we have the SMTP fixed, or maybe we can change it to another one...

I will create an SMTP account on my server and point it to it for now... till we have this sorted out

I've created this account: chef_altermundi@libre.ws
It is working now.
Will change it back once the server is available.
Will live this issue open so we can track it.

i recreated chef@altermundi.net in our new MX,
and updated the details in settings.py

but, now registration fails with "504 Gateway Time-out" being thrown by nginx!
(the same happened with your chef_altermundi@libre.ws)

something with the smtp connection is taking too long (more than a minute)

When I tried it was working... Did you tried again? What it may be happening maybe is that DNS resolution is failing... Will check later

As we were having an nginx timeout issue, I extended the time nginx waits for django to reply, and now it is sending an "SMTPAuthenticationError".
It seems the credentials are not correct!
I re-added the ones from my host for now... waiting for the yours :)
