Environment
Hardware: ASUS Chromebox 3 N017U
OS: Google ChromeOS, all versions
Input type: touchscreen, mouse/keyboard
Chrome App version: kiosk-9.3.0
Steps to reproduce
Under Browser settings in Kiosk app configuration, tick the checkbox for the setting “Enable New Windows and Dialogs”.
Set the “New Window Mode” setting to “Modal Window”
Attempt to access any URL that uses the html target attribute target=”_blank”
Before the page in the modal window renders completely, click outside the modal window, closing it. It may require more than one try but will not require very many.
Expected result
The URL is consistently rendered in a modal window.
Actual result
The modal window does not open at all and will not open again until the kiosk app is killed and restarted, e.g. by rebooting the device.
Severety
Critical – once the bug occurs the device can no longer display content. On a moderately-busy kiosk the bug can occur very quickly.
