Single core at 100% usage after starting REPL

I created a vanilla luminus project via lein new luminus myapp just a few minutes ago.
I use Intellij with Cursive to start a REPL (OpenJDK 14).

After I started the REPL my laptop fan kept spinning loudly. I can start luminus via (user/start) everything behaves normal except my fan kept spinning with 1 core at 100% usage.

I verified, just starting the repl is enough to cause this problem.
I tested against my slightly older luminus projects, which used the same template and they do not have this bug.
Maybe someone can reproduce the bug on a different machine?

I can't reproduce locally with JDK 12, not sure what recent change would cause this either.
