unit tests?

This package looks great. Are there unit tests anywhere that someone could use to check whether the package works as intended on updated versions of python (v3.4 is quite old) and to gain confidence in the implementation in general? I'm not seeing them anywhere, but they'd be much appreciated.

+1, or at least tag the issue with help wanted? Unsupported versions of python aside, it's hard to justify using software that doesn't report coverage in general. A minimal testing framework is maybe an afternoon's worth of work; someone using the package should probably be writing their own minimal tests right now as it is. I (and others) would be much happier opening a PR here with some testing than leaving it in a fork or private re-implementation
