Running Sublime Text build 3126 on Windows 7.
I'm attaching critic-test.zip that contains critic-test.md. Its contents came from this link.
If I open critic-test.md in Sublime Text 3, then set syntax to AcademicMarkdown, it only seems to interpret the first two CriticMarkup text as indicated by the red arrows:
