V2 Update

Hi Guys!

I'm currently working on a major update. I'm looking for ways to greatly improve this plugin and keep it maintainable moving forward. And this is the list that I have in mind so far:

1. Moving from YQL to import.io for data scraping services.
2. Identify media files url, and build specific UI for each (images, music, video, etc).
3. A flexible design solution. It won't be dependent on HTML structure so developers can have full control over the design. Maybe applying a small templating library.
4. Apply automated testing.

I think if we're going with number 3, we can drop UI update on number 2, but we will still return specific data for different media types.

I will still build a stylesheet as reference or guide.

Problem with import.io is that it doesn't have a public console like YQL. It requires an API key, so thats basically another ajax request. Probably stick with YQL.

You already have a very great plugin. A good addition will be providing a call back when the content has finished loading (in the container). As it normally takes some time for the preview to display it will be good to provide a call back so one can show a loading indicator while the preview is being generated.

Thanks @josiahres! Yes I think we can add that. But you can also simply do this with $.ajaxSetup(), so you can do stuff on all ajax request from urlive:

$.ajaxSetup({
  beforeSend: function() { /* show global loading indicator */ },
  complete: function() { /* hide loading indicator */ }
