I started this project to create a shared space for folks to see am example of how a project can be built iteratively over time without having to know everything A to Z.

When I was beginning software development, I had no idea open-source was a thing and even after a mentor enlightened me, I had a hard time finding exemplar projects that were "real" and not just another blogging app. I would love for us to use this project to create such a space and when we're done, pick another idea and run with it.

My name is Dustin and I've been dabbling in software development since early childhood. I was fortunate enough to receive a Tandy 1000 for Christmas when I was five or six and remember it coming with a Q-Basic manual. I would type instructions for the computer to say naughty things and I became hooked. Almost 30 years later, I still get a chuckle from having a computer tell me to fuck right off.

I've worked with a lot of different languages and stacks over the years and have come to find that I really care more about product and people than the specific technologies in play. When I get to mentor junior developers starting out, I like to make an extra effort to have them understand that none of us are perfect, we all have skills and knowledge to share and we're never going to know everything. Software development in 2022 is a LOT of information and we need to do everything we can to make this profession accessible to as wide a group as possible.
