With additional flag mixed, i3switch could switch between grid windows as well as floating windows, the movement would have to be window-center based, otherwise a window from the grid would always be prefered over the floating one.
Possibly the usability of this is limited, as what to focus could be pretty hard to guess, but it could be a fun excercise.
