Description
Description of the new feature / enhancement
A definable buffer/blank zone to prevent windows from snapping to / filling certain areas.
For example;
A three column layout with a buffer zone of 100 pixels along the bottom, preventing a snapping window from filling 100% of the vertical space.
An option to auto set the buffer size to match the taskbar height (for use with auto-hide taskbar) would be awesome.
Scenario when this would be used?
I have an OLED monitor so I try to minimize static elements to avoid burn in. For this reason I use auto-hide taskbar (a little yuck I know).
While the taskbar is hidden zones can use that (now) free space, so a window can snap to 100% of vertical space, leading to some pain points (differing from software to software).
Examples I've experienced;
Interacting with things (buttons, etc.) along the bottom edge of a window while it is flush with the bottom of the screen can be difficult without accidentally un-hiding the taskbar, which can then;
-
Overlap the window (and buttons) you are trying to interact with.
-
Automatically resize the window as the taskbar un-hides/hides, so the buttons, etc. jump around.
-
Again auto resize, only this time the software blanks out completely for a second or two while it redraws making the window flash.
Setting a buffer zone would help with this issue, at the expense of a little real estate.
Thanks.
