Choice of License

This question has already raised a lot of issues, sparked heated debates, not to mention trolls. But concretely, as a (hobby) developer, what options do we have?

I’m thinking of two choices (my personal view only):

1. Develop and distribute for end users.
2. Develop and distribute for other developers.

But before deciding, we need to ask the right questions: what matters most to me? What do I want to do with my modest contribution to the free-software culture and the open-source world?

My answer is clear: I want to preserve the freedom of the end user.

If for-profit developers (employees or freelancers) want to resell my work or use it in their commercial projects, that’s fine—you’re welcome to do so.

I simply ask that the results of your work do not trap end users in a proprietary, restrictive bubble.

That’s the essence of my thinking.
