Per warning messages and this blog post we are using deprecated images (circleci/golang:1.16-buster). A quick swap to the next gen images (cimg/go:1.16-buster) failed to find the images.
Also, the lint-vet-fmt job does not run the circle ci convenience image (code). Unclear why.
