Is this distributed under the same terms as qmail before it was dedicated to the public domain - i.e., you can download it and fuck around with it with gay abandon, but under no circumstances may you redistribute it without (in this case) @mszoek's personal blessing?

Sort of. My co-author on this project wasn't OK with it being open source at the time - but was OK with it being published for people to look at or play with. You can do whatever you like with the files I am sole author of; consider them as being under the MIT license. The files with joint authorship or written by someone other than me should be considered "for personal use only". I'll see if they might reconsider letting these be made fully open :)

If you work on this I would love to see what you do with it!
