Smappee Genius Flex

Hi all,

it seems that Smappee has finally released a new product: The Genius Flex! This should be integratable with our EV chargers and should enable truly local data. I do not own a device yet, so I cannot provide any code for it at the moment.

Anyone who knows more about this?
The datasheet reveals some very interesting specs:

MQTT for real-time communication with external systems
Matter standard compatible — very promising for local HA integration
OCPP and Modbus support — standard EV charging protocols
Smappee Infinity connection — so it connects to our existing hardware
Local operation even without cloud connectivity
An optional 3-phase cable is listed, confirming phase switching support

This could finally enable true local current control, 1 or 3 phase switching, and a full EVCC integration.
But once more, let's be careful — I have not seen the product yet and have not been able to test anything.

Hey,

Requested Smappee some more information. the Genius Flex is currently in test phase. They are not yet sure if it will be released. Also no release date is known (if there would be any).

Thanks! Too bad, because that device would allow us to locally control Smappee EV and use any energy monitoring system, such as EVCC.

But sad you would need a full ems just to make the charging station do what you want. Any other (cheaper) stations like Peblar or Alfen can be fully locally controlled trough modbus. Set charging speeds, switch between 1 and 3 phase charging, etc... while still also linkable to a cpo trough ocpp if you need to... Op wo 13 mei 2026, 19:35 schreef myny-git ***@***.***>:

It indeed acknowledges the fact that phase_switching can be done with the Flex device.
