What's the plan for the firmware source code?

I saw this repo was started two years ago yet the source code is not yet published.

For context: everything I read about Ngrave Zero indicates all sort of positive signals when it comes to security.
Except when it comes to the fact that I will have to use USB in order to upgrade the "closed source" firmware. At this point there is an obvious question: how do I know such upgrade won't do anything behind the scene without having to trust ngrave team?
