[BUG] Failed to download a file from Snapshot

Bug Description

I had a file that was corrupted so at first I wanted to download it, but got the failed error, I tried to restore it to the original location which worked fine.

Now I tested it and see if it could download the file I tried both my internal IP and external IP and I get this error

Steps to Reproduce

1. Go to Backups.
2. Click the Backup you want to restore from.
3. Select the Snapshot you want.
4. Click on Restore.
5. Choose the File you want.
6. Click Download 1 Item.

to just download the file

This "Restic dump failed: The operation was aborted" error was recently addressed in PR #569 and PR #575, both merged on 2026-02-25. These fixes improved timeout handling for rclone backends.

Since you're on v0.29.2, you may be missing these fixes. Try:

1. Update to the latest version — the timeout fixes were merged just a week ago and may not be in v0.29.2
2. Increase the timeout — if you can't update yet, add this to your docker-compose environment:

   environment:
     SERVER_IDLE_TIMEOUT: 300

   (Default is 60 seconds, which may be too short for WebDAV/Nextcloud connections)

The reason restore works but download fails is likely that dump operations stream data directly and are more sensitive to connection interruptions, while restore operations may handle timeouts differently.

Also worth noting: Issue #264 reports similar behavior where error messages appear even when operations partially succeed on remote backends.

@MohandL3G what browser are you using? Does it fail instantly when downloading?

I'm using Google Chrome and tested this with both My PC and Work PC, and yes it fails instantly

I tested out the solution that dosubot gave me and increased the timeout to 300 but still the same issue

No Problem I was hoping it might give another issue on the log but it's still the same, Restic dump failed.

@MohandL3G are you willing to try a v0.31.0-beta.2 version? I'm trying to fix it be creating a second stream to have a dedicated pipe to the browser instead of sending the restic stream directly. Since I don't have the error I would be glad if you could test and let me know if it helps

I used rclone to backup to Nextcloud, Nextcloud was just so slow and buggy, so I changed to Rest Server, now I can download files with no issues.

I think I understand the pattern, if a repository is extremely slow and doesn't send any byte before the 10s timeout it will abort the download stream. From your logs it seems that it is what's happening. Should get solved in v0.31.0-beta.3 (if you are still willing to try)
