Unable to compile against yara 4.x

I'm attempting to install node-yara, and my distro is using yara 4.0.1. When I attempt to compile it I get:

Yara version: 4.1.0
Npm version: 6.14.12
System: MacOS 11.3.1 (20E241)

Same here when I do npm install yara I an error:

The https://www.npmjs.com/package/@automattic/yara / https://github.com/Automattic/node-yara fork doesn't appear to have this issue.
