Layout (grid) changes do not stick

I want two of these side by side, each one half width. But if you choose this on the layout tab, the card then only displays the first card vertically, the other lower lines hide behind other cards.

I probably didn’t describe the bug well above, but it is the same behaviour as #161 and #174 concerning visibility, but instead applies to the layout tab in the visual editor: the code for making the card more narrow (grid_options) does not survive a second edit of the card. But in addition, every other card will prevent you from adjusting the layout smaller than what is needed to show the card. This one will allow you to have, for instance, one row under grid options when the card is, like mine, multiple rows tall. That is what causes the overlapping display shown above. I figured out how to go in and change that, but it does not “stick.”

The root cause seems to be the same as in #178 (config elements are discarded during load). See issue for workaround.

This issue has been fixed in the actively maintained fork: Liquidmasl/nested-lovelace-card.

The root cause was that the visual editor's setConfig patch only forwarded type, title, and cards to the hui-vertical-stack-card editor, silently stripping horizontal, styles, grid_options, visibility, and any other custom properties whenever you saved via the UI.

Fixed in commit 0962c93 — if you'd like to switch, install via HACS by adding the new repository as a custom repository.

Actually do you have a config to test? would be interested to see if this is fixed in my fork as well or if this is a different issue or an issue i still have
