Different .ko files reported as identical

Our pesign-obs-integration appends some signature data to .ko files in kmp packages built in OBS, e.g. bbswitch, but build-compare only shows the changed SHA256 and concludes

/lib/modules/5.0.6-1-default/updates/bbswitch.ko: only difference was in build-id, gnu_debuglink or gnu_debugdata, GOOD.
Package content is identical

Is that intended or a bug?

Also for fwupd, the .efi binary shows only 1 line diff, but also has plenty data appended.

I do not think the build system is actually prepared to run build-compare for signed packages.

They are still rpms, so I think it mostly just works.
