So far beta5 works A-OK on the older macbook air running macos 15.7.5, including glxgears (at 57 frames/s with the default window size!). Thank you very much for bringing XQuartz this much further to a new release! Next I'll try it on my desktop (x86 mac pro running Tahoe 26.4.). I should do the 26.4.1 OS update first though, but that'll give me a window to also update XQuartz. |

Beta5 works as well as can be on Tahoe 26.4.1 x86 -- there are no new problems so far, at least for my uses. The main issue is of course the window redraw on resize problem (which for me is actually a very minor problem -- my window manager allows me to manually force a full window refresh on any window that looks wrong, except the root window, and since I don't regularly resize many windows, I don't notice the problem very much at all, except with the root window that ends up completely black/blank). And of course the OpenGL/GLX/MESA failure, including on x86, is also still a problem. Since GLX stuff works on the older macos 15.7.x (and presumably previous releases), the problem would seem to be in whatever API that XQuartz uses, i.e. on the macos side of things (though as with the redraw problem, it could just be something slightly out of spec in what XQuartz does when using that API). Everything else is working very well, as before. Thank you very much for updating everything! |

Hey folks,
I just released XQuartz 2.8.6_beta5. This release pulls in a fix for the reported xrandr crash, some rpath related linking issues, and a newer xorg-server base version that pulls in various upstream bug fixes.
