why isn't it released on pypi?

You seem to have it released as everything else other than as a python package.

We wern't 100% as to an entirely pythonic way of creating a python
application as a python package, and didn't really have the time to learn.

We're more then happy to though :)

See #7 I think you'll find that you're at least 50% closer to creating an entirely pythonic python package if you just pull my setup.py. The other 50% will require work to cleanup the deb/rpm building and documentation generation. ;)
