Description
The “My position” marker can be offset by ~100–200 m or jump between random points in open sky conditions.
Movement is not tracked continuously unless the user switches to another app (e.g., Google Maps) and back (“Google Maps trick”).
Track recording then contains missing trackpoints and straight-line segments between last known and current position.
In some cases, when the phone is locked and later unlocked, recording resumes only after reopening OsmAnd.
Steps to reproduce
- iOS Location: Always + Precise Location ON
- Trip recording: interval 10s, min accuracy 20m
- Go to an open area (good GPS), open OsmAnd, start recording, walk/cycle.
- Observe: position freezes or jumps; GPX later shows straight-line gaps (missing points).
- Switch to Google Maps (correct position), switch back → OsmAnd updates briefly, then may fail again.
Actual result
Location updates intermittently freeze, drift, or jump; GPX logging misses points and produces straight-line gaps until the app is reopened or “refreshed” by switching to another app.
Expected result
Continuous, stable location updates while moving (especially in the foreground) without needing to switch apps.
GPX track contains regular trackpoints at the configured interval without long straight-line gaps.
