RCI has requested we explore simplifying the impacts tab to show a matrix as described below.
Propsal for experimentation:
- P2A relies on gridded GCM output (raw or downscaled?), so info available at many grid points within each region
- Rules engine can be (is already?) run on individual grid cells, to produce binary grid of rule-triggering (T/F or 1/0)
- Within a region, for a given period, compute ratio representing areal fraction of where rule is triggered, i.e.,
- f = (sum of grid-level outcomes)/(no. of grid cells) 0 ≤ f ≤ 1
- Assign colour based on colour bar spanning [0,1]
- Value of f indicates approximate prevalence of triggering level of change for that impact category, in that region
- If perceived as overly precise, could recalibrate as [0,1] [Low, medium, high], but retain colours—see following example
