Problem and Benefit

When implementing additional features in the jetleg_vision package, it may be useful to be able to run a simple script to easily perform system testing and regression testing without the influence of other packages in the rest of the repository. Testing the functionality may require loading a specific Gazebo world and spawning a virtual robot possessing visual sensors.

Suggested Action Items

  • Add a simple Gazebo world with at least 1 complex object to detect
  • Add a simple robot URDF file containing a description for a visual sensor
  • Add a ROS 2 launch script in the launch subfolder of the jetleg_vision package that runs all relevant nodes provided by the package
  • Add an RVIZ configuration file to quickly visualize the results of the computer vision processing
  • Document any launch configurations or launch arguments used to write the launch script
  • Push all completed changes to the dev branch
