So the short of it is that from what I can tell the Point object only supports lat and long, meaning adding information to the API won't solve this. Rats!

However mapbox has this handy symbol-z-elevate property that places symbols on buildings based off their datasets that should work. https://docs.mapbox.com/style-spec/reference/layers/#layout-symbol-symbol-z-elevate. It's a bit buggy and only in certain scenarios:

In action on the map ... looks good until you zoom in.

Yes it is working but the implementation is pretty bad.

• As discussed during initial merging of the PR it stops working at certain zoom levels
• The symbol-z-elevate property only works for points; I never looked into if it works for LineStrings, so the lines showing relationships between nodes (high site > router, etc.) are flat.

I will mostly defer to Felipe on this one since I don't know too much about the MapBox JS SDK.

It looks like updating the <link href="https://api.mapbox.com/mapbox-gl-js/v3.9.3/mapbox-gl.css" rel="stylesheet"> and <script src="https://api.mapbox.com/mapbox-gl-js/v3.9.3/mapbox-gl.js"></script> on the index.html file to v3.17.0 solves the problem.

I see. I'm going to explore the way to give lines a z value.
