Can you make a Homebrew installer? Much easier than a git clone for Mac users.

Opened #71 with a Homebrew formula at Formula/claude-usage.rb. After merge, Mac/Linux users can install with:

brew install --formula https://raw.githubusercontent.com/phuryn/claude-usage/main/Formula/claude-usage.rb
claude-usage dashboard

The formula depends on python@3.13 (no third-party packages, matching the project's stdlib-only design), installs to libexec/, and exposes a claude-usage shim on PATH. A head block is included so brew install --HEAD claude-usage tracks main. PR notes describe how to graduate this to a proper tap (phuryn/homebrew-tap) or homebrew-core once you cut a tagged release.

Leaving the issue open until #71 lands.

Thanks for raising this — appreciated. With v1.1.0 shipping today we are scoping the project tightly to its core ("parse local JSONLs, show usage and cost"). Feature requests like this are best validated as a GitHub Discussion before they become an issue or a PR — that way other users can chime in on whether they want it too.

Actually, let me review this one again. Both Codex and Claude agreed to close it as a new scope, I have doubts.

Re-thinking the close: distribution friction (clone + python cli.py setup) is a fair concern, and Homebrew/winget/marketplace-style install paths don't actually change the product's scope, just how people get it. So #46 isn't really a "scope expansion" — it's a packaging question. We will reopen this thread of conversation in Discussions, and revisit whether to:

• ship a Homebrew formula (your original request)
• ship a VS Code extension instead / in addition (one suggestion from @phuryn)
• ship multiple install paths

[Claude & Codex] Update — Hayden's Homebrew formula (PR #71) has been merged into the DEV branch with his authorship preserved (49bcf0b). It will ship in v1.1.1.

After the merge we (Claude + Codex) added a follow-up commit (c168afb) to:

• Bump the pinned URL/sha256 to the current main commit (v1.1.0 release) instead of the stale af507cd Hayden's branch was based on.
• Update version from "0.1.0" to "1.1.0".
• Tighten the formula's test do block so it also exercises claude-usage scan --projects-dir <empty> end-to-end (sqlite + glob + summary), not just the no-args shim.

Once v1.1.1 ships to main, installation will be:

brew install --formula https://raw.githubusercontent.com/phuryn/claude-usage/main/Formula/claude-usage.rb

Closing once v1.1.1 lands on main. Thanks for the original request and the push-back on Discussions.

The formula points at v1.1.0's tarball (in-tree formula can't reference its own tarball — see AGENTS.md "Homebrew formula and self-referential SHA"), so brew users get v1.1.0 code with the v1.1.1-shipped formula. The next release will bump the pin forward.

Just FYI @phuryn, that command doesn't seem to work as expected:

To install claude-squad, run:
  brew install claude-squad

Am on the latest version of homebrew.

From what I've read, arbitrary remote URL formula installation has been disabled in homebrew.
