I absolutely loved this idea and tried implementing it in one of my plugins. It works great on its own, but one of my clients uses a theme that has the code from your inspiration:
https://github.com/unisphere/unisphere_notifier
Now an update is always appearing for him as a mixture of the two items. It compares my plugins' version to the version of the theme, which of course are not identical. The menu option says the name of the theme and links to the theme update page. The top half is all about the theme, but the XML it imports is from my plugin. It's a very weird hodge podge of the two. Do you have any idea why this may be? I filled out all of the defined variables with my own unique information, changed the xxx to something unique as well. I also reviewed the code and functions used to create the page but I just can't seem to figure it out. I would appreciate any help!
I'm very knowledgeable with PHP so no worries there. I can implement any changes you may have. Thank you!
