Failing registration with missing metadata in multilanguage journal

Dear @bozana and @asmecher ,

we just had the situation that the plugin attempted to register an article in a multi-language journal (German & English). The editor entered the metadata for the article's author only in the German form, while leaving the English metadata blank. In the DOI registration process however, the plugin stopped working (and did not process the subsequent articles) when hitting the described article.

Can you reproduce the bug?

Hi @GrazingScientist, thanks for reporting. We would need a few more information in order to figure out what is happening:
Which OJS version are you using?
What is the primary locale of the article? -- Is it German? -- All metadata must be entered in the article primary locale...
When you try to export only that article do you get any errors and what errors exactly?
If export works fine, when you try to register only that article what exactly happens?

It would be good to first use support forum, so that we are able to first check and test and to then create an issue once we figured out that it is a bug or something needs to be done...

I ha a similar same issue and could reproduce using the following context.

Steps:

• User configures a second language e.g. UI language german (see image) and for SOME articles the registration fails.

Error can happen here and when the object is null.
