If you are worried about security, I would recommend reviewing the code (it's open source, after all) and compiling the binary yourself. That way, you can be sure it hasn't been tampered with.
In my (biased) opinion, the program is completely safe and can be used without worries, but of course you are free to use a different program if you are not comfortable.
