Question: guider log

Hi astra team,

in past versions, there was a file guider.log with information on the guiding.
It had these columns:

night  ref  check  stable  shift_x  shift_y  pre_pid_x  pre_pid_y  post_pid_x  post_pid_y  std_buff_x  std_buff_y  culled_x  culled_y

We usually copied it with the data and our pipeline used this to plot information on the guiding in the report.

It looks like this file disappeared in astra 0.3. From a look at the code, I suspect this information disappeared into the log database. How could I get access to this information again in an easy way?

Hi Urs :)

All the data is in the SQLite database. I removed the log file in the image folder just to keep consistency with file types saved in the image directory.

For now, you can either get the log file from the archive folder that gets saved during the backups of the logs. Or, you can query the database directly and read the table, using SQLite3 in Python? What do you think?

Hi p³,

The backup of logs doesn't happen every day, if I remember correctly, so it might not be practical to get it from there, as we include it in every night's report?
If that's the case, I guess the simplest is to make am independent script that dumps the relevant data from the DB after the nightly run. I'll have to freshen up my SQL :-P
