Target specific configuration

I have different CMakePresets.json configurations per platform with preset name dependent upon the operating system. Is there a way to set extra_args based upon the host or target platforms?

Any progress towards this? I have looked into it myself, but my lack of Rust experience made it very challenging to identify where and how templating is performed.

As a motivating example, FreeCAD employs pixi for development environment management, configuration and build. The pixi.toml configures the appropriate platform-specific configuration in CMakePresets.json.

Each week we have an automated build that generates Linux AppImage, macOS .dmg, and Windows .7z packages using pixi build with the rattler-build backend. Unfortunately, this means that the individually selected dependencies are not pinned to the same versions in the pixi.lock file, meaning that the weekly build is not representative of the developer builds or CI build.

Ideally we would prefer to use the cmake backend for pixi-build, which does utilize the pixi.lock files for dependency management, but not being able to set the CMake preset based on a per-platform basis is holding us back.

This is very high on our roadmap, but we have not yet implemented it yet.
