Why does Blacklist keep opening a tab to announce it has blocked a site (over & over)?

The reason for using Blacklist to avoid site redirections opening an annoying tab. Replacing
this action by Blacklist opening its own annoying tab is mind-boggling dumb. why?

At least add the option of turning this option off!

Blocking popup sites sites is not the intended use of the extension, you should use a site blocker like uBlock Origin or Ad Block Plus
