Rescribe does not start with double-click on MacOS, it can start with command line

After accepting to open it, I got a dialog saying:
«You cannot use this version of the “Rescribe” application with this version of macOS.»
and the icon of the application is banned.

I can start it via command line and it works.
Is there a way to fix it?

Hi @cbertelli, thanks for reporting (and sorry I didn't see this issue report earlier!) Weird issue, I haven't seen that before. Can you tell me what version of MacOS you're using, please? I'll try to reproduce it if I can.

There is a known MacOS issue because it isn't signed, which I wrote instructions to work around, and can copy below. Probably this is a different issue (it certainly isn't the expected message), but may be worth trying this just in case:

When you try to open Rescribe on MacOS for the first time, you may get a pop up with a message like this: "Rescribe" can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. This is because we haven't paid Apple to be part of their developer programme. You can bypass it by holding the Control key and clicking on the app icon, then clicking Open. The warning message that then pops up will have an "Open" button. Click it to open Rescribe. You will only have to do this once; after that it will open as normal.
