From 0908b693e18376ddbb140abdd7cdac6ab17a9ea4 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: "J.D. Brandewie" Date: Tue, 14 Apr 2026 18:06:09 -0400 Subject: [PATCH] Add type-aware cross-file resolver for C# Builds a global type registry (classes, interfaces, structs, records with methods, fields, properties, and base types) from all .cs files, then re-walks each method body with a type-tracking scope to resolve call receivers through fields, properties, parameters, locals, this/base, and inheritance chains. Respects using directives for namespace-scoped disambiguation. Emits calls and instantiates edges for cross-file resolutions only; same-file calls remain with the per-file extractor to avoid duplication. On a 112-file C# corpus this lifts cross-file edges from 0 to ~1445 (1028 calls + 417 instantiates) and produces god-node rankings that match human intuition about subsystem hubs. Known limitations (documented in comments): - Chained calls (.A().B()) needs return-type tracking - Extension methods needs using-static + this-parameter detection - Generic type arguments collapsed to base type name - Overloads: last declaration wins on name collisions --- graphify/extract.py | 799 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++- 1 file changed, 798 insertions(+), 1 deletion(-) diff --git a/graphify/extract.py b/graphify/extract.py index f420256c..39c81451 100644 --- a/graphify/extract.py +++ b/graphify/extract.py @@ -937,6 +937,12 @@ def walk(node, parent_class_nid: str | None = None) -> None: seen_helper_ref_pairs: set[tuple[str, str, str]] = set() seen_bind_pairs: set[tuple[str, str, str]] = set() + # Unresolved call sites: callees whose name did not match any local symbol. + # A cross-file resolver (e.g. _resolve_cross_file_csharp) may turn these + # into edges later once it has a global symbol table. + unresolved_calls: list[dict] = [] + unresolved_instantiations: list[dict] = [] + def _php_class_const_scope(n) -> str | None: scope = n.child_by_field_name("scope") if scope is None: @@ -1059,6 +1065,14 @@ def walk_calls(node, caller_nid: str) -> None: "source_location": f"L{line}", "weight": 1.0, }) + elif tgt_nid is None: + # Callee is not a symbol defined in this file.
