[Bug] Quick Share from Mac to phone

Describe the bug
I love the app, but when I try to share files from my MacBook to my phone (Nothing Phone 2) something goes wrong. Namely, when a notification appears to accept the transfer, when I click accept, the app on my phone simply closes and the transfer doesn't occur. It works the other way around.By the way, I would like to ask how to configure a connection outside the local network, because I saw such an option on the phone but I can't find any information about it. I'm using a MacBook Air with M4 and MacOS 26. AirSync is the latest version.

Hi! I am not sure about this, if both apps are up-to-date, how the process works is that when we try to share a file from the mac, the AirSync app tells the Android app that it might receive a file so the app starts listening for 60 seconds.

So if the user pick their phone, then the Android app automatically accepts it and completes the transfer with no need of user interactions.

If the Android app crashes, I will get crash logs so I will take a look at what's going on for possible fixes. Similarly, when sending files from Android to mac, the mac app receives the request and checks if the QuickShare name matches the name of the Android device in AirSync and if so, it accepts the file (if you have auto accept enabled).

For this, basically you just can install Tailscale on both devices and sign in to the same account ( I prefer GitHub sign in) and then connect them both. Then in the mac AirSync app's settings, make sure the network adapter setting is auto (It should be by default) and then on Android AirSync app, enable the "Expand networking" toggle so it is allowed to use Tailscale.

Then you should see your devices even outside the local network. In this case, you will see the devices show up with a globe icon in the device discovery or both if it can find it with both methods. That's it :)

I have automatic acceptance enabled, but the app still asks for confirmation. As for using it outside of the local network, thank you very much for your help.

Hi @sameerasw , I got the opposite problem. I can send files from mac to android flawlessly by setting auto-accept on both mac and android. However, when I try to send file from android to mac (by using quickshare), it's unable to discover my mac. Is there any setting I'm missing?

oooo this is interesting. Probably your Android's quick share device name and the device name set for AirSync does not match.

Can you ensure QuickShare is enabled in the AirSync Android app's settings? Also it should pop up a notification saying it's listening for 60 seconds when you try to share a file from the mac as it notifies the Android app to switch the device to listening mode.

Oops I mixed both issues. This is a weird one, Can you try pairing both devices via bluetooth. I don't think this is a requirement but let's see if there's a change because I have done it (only pair, not connected).

Pairing mac and android via bluetooth doesn't help (both pair and connect)

I found a crash log. If it still does not work, LMK and I will dig into this.

From the logs it seems a on me as a network call on main thread causing the issue but it works otherwise so maybe there's an exception that can happen. I'll try to apply fixes from my side as well and let's see if there's any improvements.
