SkyUI Permission Request - Restoring Celtic Icons

I've been working on a mod to SkyUI that allows you to use the Celtic icons originally made by GreatClone for more than just the category icons in the latest version, as was possible in earlier versions of SkyUI. I've also removed the decorative borders of the category icons, which was also an option in earlier versions. A lot of icons have to be reused for multiple purposes, for example there is only one icon for all armor/clothes/jewelry, but I still think it's decently usable. You can see in these screenshots how it looks.

I was wondering if I could get permission to upload this as a mod to the Nexus. It would require SkyUI be installed first, not be its own standalone version. I would of course give all credit to the SkyUI team for SkyUI and GreatClone for making the icons; all I did was edit the necessary .swf files to incorporate the icons where appropriate, and that's all I'll claim to have done.

While your project is cool and it's neat that SkyUI has received an update for the first time in over 8 years, I don't know that this really helps me. First, there's still the issue of me using icons made by GreatClone. The permissions for SkyUI (available here) say:

Some assets in this file belong to other authors. You will need to seek permission from these authors before you can use their assets

and

To modify the icons files, you must seek additional permission from the original authors, Psychosteve and Jeledity. You may find it easier to just use Inventory Interface Information Injector instead.

And here, you say that these permissions are what apply to your project.

The bigger issue, though, is something I made the mistake of not mentioning initially: I made this for classic Skyrim, not Skyrim SE. So I can't use Inventory Interface Information Injector because it doesn't exist for this version, and none of the permissions for SkyUI Community or SkyUI for SE apply. The permissions for the classic edition of SkyUI (available here) are still very locked down. What I was relying on is what is said here about permissions:

You may not use non-trivial parts of SkyUI in your mod unless given explicit permission. When in doubt over the nature of a trivial part, contact us. Permission will likely be granted, if you made changes that are significant enough for your name to be on top of the result instead of ours. Permission will likely be refused, if you just made a minor/superficial change, or if you are just reuploading our mod without any further contribution. We do want others to extend and learn from our work, but we do not want them to just copy and rebrand it.

Also, Issue #101 got a response with granted permission only a couple of months before I submitted this one, so I was hoping for a response but never got one.

I could create a mod for Skyrim SE by forking and modifying Inventory Interface Information Injector and requiring the user to download GreatClone's icons separately rather than including them in my mod. This would circumvent issues with permissions (probably? still not quite sure on that). But that would be rewriting the mod from the ground up using a completely different system; the only thing it would have in common with this one would be the concept. I'm currently using this mod for my own personal use on classic Skyrim and it works great; I would just need permission to release it.

Icons are in a separate swf so all you should need to do is overwrite that.

Unfortunately it's not that simple. That only changes the icons in the main inventory. The icons used in the favorites menu and the crafting menus are baked into those files, so I also have to modify craftingmenu.swf and favoritesmenu.swf. Not the best system, but that's how it is—this is also why the icons in the favorites menu are always black and white (or at least they were before version 6). Plus I also modify inventorylists.swf so that the chest icons and barter icons don't appear, since they don't fit the theme.

Also, the way the icons are used and the number of categories available changed between the last version where GreatClone's item icons were available and the most recent version, so just overwriting icons_item_psychosteve.swf with skyui_icons_inv.swf from SkyUI ver. 2.2 won't work. So, even if I didn't worry about the complications above, I still have to make a modified file using GreatClone's icons, and if I wanted to distribute this as a mod I would have to distribute that file.

Bottom line, this took multiple hours of work on my part to get this working, using Adobe Flash CS4 and the JPEXS Free Flash Decompiler. It was definitely not as simple as overwriting a single .swf file with a different one.

I'm not sure what your purpose was in saying that, but I already have this working, as I previously said. I'm just looking for permission to upload it, if you think it's deserved. If you were saying you thought that this didn't qualify as a "non-trivial" change as outlined in the requirements for permission, hopefully this explanation shows this is not the case.

Hmm, maybe it only worked that way in the SE version? I haven't looked into that version much. That seems unlikely though, why else would the icons in the favorites menu be grayscale when the inventory icons are in color? That's the way things were before version 6, even on SE

Even if that were the case, there would still be some other changes I would have had to make to make it look nice. Removing the chest and barter icons, as I said before, plus choosing which icons to use for the smiting and enchanting menus, etc.
