Think I've come across either a google issue or a BQVA issue, not sure.
External partitioned tables (the partition can be selected in the UI as a dropdown). so example:
Tables : martys_awesome_data_20200606 & martys_awesome_data_20200607
BQ UI shows martys_awesome_data_ with the dates in the drop down.
Creating a select * view in another project works fine and also keeps the dropdown for the view
When using BQVA it just errors saying:
File "C:\Users\marty\AppData\Local\Continuum\anaconda3\envs\wc\lib\site-packages\google\cloud_http.py", line 423, in api_request
raise exceptions.from_http_response(response)
google.api_core.exceptions.NotFound: 404 GET https://www.googleapis.com/bigquery/v2/projects/datasets/tables/martys_awesome_data_:
Not found: Table project:dataset.martys_awesome_data_
