Current Behavior

Friend has updated her profile on session to remove some identifying details, yet on desktop I can see her original profile picture (but the name has changed successfully) as if it hasn't fetched from the server or something.

I've restarted the app and it still shows, and looked at her profile details to see if that would show something different to the contact thumbnail but nope, still her original picture. When i open Session on my phone it's fine, it's all updated. It's just my desktop version that is still showing her previous profile picture.

Expected Behavior

I would expect that upon opening, the app would check for changes in a contacts details from the server and update the contact on my end.

Steps To Reproduce

To be as close to my experience as possible

1. Add contact and chat for a bit first, you on desktop, them on android
2. Have the person remove their profile picture while you don't have the app open
3. Open the desktop app and their original profile picture should still show

I checked the green light to make sure my connection to the network was okay. The name successfully changed and I've received messages from them since, so I'm definitely connected and so is she.

I feel bad posting bugs so often but with my gov the way it's going I am really holding out on session to save the day so please know these are in support of session, not in criticism. You are doing amazing things.

Expected Behavior
I would expect that upon opening, the app would check for changes in a contacts details from the server and update the contact on my end.

Session is decentralised, there is no centralised server to manage profiles. You are only informed of a profile picture change once you receive a message from someone, every message contains the users current display name and profile picture. Has your friend sent you a message on desktop with a device using the new profile picture? It could be worth them re-setting the picture on their device and sending you a message to see if that updates it. If its still not updating please let us know.

We've been chatting for 3 days since the profile change, it's updated successfully when I view our chat on android, but when I look on desktop, her profile picture is still the one from days ago.

It's the same person from the other issue i posted, you can see the discrepency here. (It's non-identifying so she said I can post the image).

On desktop you can see it's the old profile picture but in the second screenshot taken from the other issue i posted, you can see its the plain-letter default picture.

On desktop is says you have no messages from them, has your desktop client received messages from them?

Yep we've had days of chatting with me on desktop, as per the other issue i filed, they are on a delete timer. Seen here:

But yes we've talked on both platforms, i use desktop primarily.
