The latest commits on the s2 source swig wrappers is about 13 months ago (as this is written), see:

The latest updates on this repo were about 2 years ago. Assuming both projects are hosting current code repos on github, this suggests this project might be updated? Or is this project a ground-up rewrite of s2 in pure python (vs. swig wrappers)?

It looks like this project might be a ground-up rewrite in pure python. Does it suffer performance issues? (#25)
